Although born in Kentucky, I have spent 98% of my life in Florida with a five year stint in South Jersey. There was a great deal of musical exposure in my childhood and quite a bit of diversity too. From Bluegrass, Hillbilly, Folk, Dixieland and Big Band all the way through to Jazz, Classical and Rock. I was taught to appreciate all genres whether I personally enjoyed them or not.
As far as work, the majority of my career has been in the hospitality industry. I have done it all, everything from Catering Manager to Director of Sales & Marketing to General Manager. I can honestly say it takes a lot to surprise me in hotels!
My husband Jim is, and has been a drummer for years. As a result, I have managed, promoted and booked his bands in both New Jersey and the Jacksonville, Florida area. I can honestly say it takes a lot to surprise me in bands too!
I have one published book “Dear Miss Schneider, Please Excuse Walter…“ which was released in April, 2011. I am the feature writer for the Pineapple Post Newspaper – one edition located on Florida’s Treasure Coast and the other in Ocala. Now writing for SRO, I hope you enjoy my articles on music related subjects. I look forward to hearing from you.
