I am a freelance band concert photographer who has an incredible passion for live shows. It all began about eight years ago when my son was seven years old. He found my Kiss Psycho Circus cd and fell in love with them. Kiss just happened to be playing that summer so I decided to take him to his very first live show, it was my first live show in almost twenty years, I was more nervous then him. We ended up having a great time and I decided that it can be can that bonding activity between father and son I was looking for. We started going to shows every now and then and before we knew it we were going to a show a week. We found out about a local club called Starland Ballroom which became our home away from home. Very quickly we became part of something big, my son at age nine and ten was hanging out upstairs with bands like Type O Negative, Biohazard and 40 Below Summer.
Photography was always a hobby of mine so I started documenting the shows using my pictures. I decided that I wanted to somehow help the local music scene so I developed my http://www.jeffcrespirocks.com site to share my love for music and live shows. Within a short time we became local celebrities who were at almost every show at the club. We averaged eighty to one hundred shows a year and have been doing so for the last eight years. About a year ago I started providing photo coverage on a more professional basis for Amp and Hails and Horns Magazine. This gave me an incredible amount of exposure and the rest is history. I have been providing photo coverage for numerous publications, blog sites and websites ever since. I’m all about supporting the music scene as a whole and use my photography skills to do so. I am very fortunate that I have a lot of venues local to me Starland Ballroom, PNC Arts Center, The Stone Pony, The Saint, The Wonder Bar, The Brighton Bar, Encore Event Center all with an awesome amount of different styles and genres of music.
The bands I have covered range from Slipknot to Paramore and everyone in between, old school, new school punk, metal, ska, hip hop, rock and hardcore. It has been an amazing experience and I thank everyone that has helped me along the way.
I look forward to bringing you some exciting photos!
