quik license plate ?
#1
Is it illegal to modify your california license plate? IE, cutting the top off to make it fit into the front air dam? About half of the california will need to be trimmed off.

My car did not come with front license plate brackets.

I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to modify it in any way. You may have to modify your car instead (ie cut off whatever is making it not fit) What kind of car do you have that doesn't have a front plate holder?

I have a 95 GSR, but with a 98 and up front end/lights. It came with the brackets filled in already and I REALLY don't want to modify it as it has already been painted. I took some brackets from an accord I own (it's a long term project car) and attached them to the lower front end brace, however the license plate is about a 1/4 to 1/2 and inch too tall.

im no law agency, but it sounds right that the rear license plate shows its registation sticker, digit/letters, and the state where its regis.

as for front, i think it applys the same exlude the sticker.

if you plan to do it and you get pulled, tell the officer your front plate fell off and you ran it over so you had to trim it to make it fit. but then, the officer would tell you to request/pay for new plates from DMV. then said it happened recently

CVC 5200. (a) When two license plates are issued by the department for
use upon a vehicle, they shall be attached to the vehicle for which
they were issued, one in the front and the other in the rear.

CVC 5201. License plates shall at all times be securely fastened to the
vehicle for which they are issued so as to prevent the plates from
swinging, shall be mounted in a position so as to be clearly visible,
and shall be maintained in a condition so as to be clearly legible.
